One best man just took his speech way too far.
The best man’s speech is meant to be about the newlyweds.
Sure, it might include a few inappropriate jokes at the groom’s expense. But the point is to celebrate the couple, not to give the best man an audience for a work-in-progress stand up comedy show.
A best man in Northern Ireland has just taken things way too far.
Ciaran Morrison, 26, had only just stood up at his best friend’s wedding to make his speech when he revealed he’d forgotten it.
Then he ran out the door.
But don’t worry. He didn’t actually forget his speech and run away to cry. It was all an elaborate ruse! A wedding video started playing in the reception venue – depicting Ciaran’s intense, Mission Impossible-style quest to retrieve his speech from home.
He struggled through the undergrowth.
He kayaked somewhere. For some reason.
He brought his kayak into the beach, even though he was in a lake before.
He galloped a horse across the sand.

This is my first comment on this site after a couple of years of reading. I could stay silent no more. If the author was my friend I'd sit us down with some drinks & chocolate and scream, "Get a grip!"
To look at this clever and creative effort and find offence is just beyond my understanding. Why live that way? When you are finding fault in friends acting like friends - it's time to reassess.
But worse, this reeks of an entitlement that so many people have - that they should have their tastes catered for in every situation. This entitlement is especially prevalent with regard to OTHER PEOPLE'S WEDDINGS.
Speaking from my own experience making a speech at a wedding, it is SO daunting and really tricky to hit the right notes. Are you honouring the bride and groom in the right way? Are people going to find this boring? Do enough people know this story that they'll understand the joke?
Someone doing it with a fresh perspective should be celebrated.
I sense the bride and groom and their circle of friends have a very different sense of humour and priorities than you when it comes to weddings.
