After your fantastic responses on our Daggy Songs post a few weeks ago, we have used your suggestions to compile the first Mamamia playlist. It’s called Daggy Songs Vol. 1 and it’s GOLD. You can buy the whole playlist on itunes or just your favourites.
I’m always looking for new/old music and I’m too lazy to trawl through itunes so assuming you are too and working on the Mamamia philosophy that sharing is caring, we’re going to start publishing regular themed playlists based on your suggestions and recommendations. What other playlists would you like to see?
The next playlist we want to do is an exercise one, whether you’re pounding the pavement, the treadmill or walking the dog, riding your bike or pretty much anything that requires upbeat motivation and distraction……what song(s) really help you?
Here are two of mine to kick off: Basement Jaxx – Red Alert and Kylie Minogue – Better The Devil You Know.

The best part about going to the gym is the playlist I get to make in preparation for it!
I go through phases. Angry-playlist phases that include Rage Against the Machine get good results... but at the moment I'm having a HAPPY GYM TIME phase.
Some favourites (all tried and tested of course) include:
Lisztomania - Phoenix
A-Punk - Vampire Weekend
Deceptacon - Le Tigre
One Thing Leads To Another - Graham BLVD (haha)
The Reeling - Passion Pit
Kids - MGMT
Last Nite - The Strokes
Dancing Shoes - Arctic Monkeys
What I like about You - The Romantics (DON'T JUDGE ME)
Move on Up - Curtis Mayfield
One More Time - Daft Punk
Party in the USA - Miley Cyrus (seriously... DON'T JUDGE ME)
You've Changed - Sia
Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap
Born Slippy - Underworld (4:37 version!)
Hard to Beat - Hard-Fi
Paris is Burning - Ladyhawke
1901 - Phoenix
Like this topic: always up for playlist ideas. Like lots of you I've got kids so lots of my runs are done on the treadmill: mind-numbingly boring without decent music. These are some of my faves for a mid-tempo run: not too driving, just nice and cruisy. They don't require much thought but seem to take the edge off the boredom.
Estelle + Kanye- American Boy
Disco Montego- Beautiful
Leftfield- Open Up
Q-Tip- Gettin' Up
Sneaky Sound System- Pictures; I Love it
Nelly Furtardo- Turn off the Light
Pnau- Embrace
Madonna- Jump, Ray of Light
Britney- Piece of Me (only time I can indulge my love of cheesy pop)
The Veronicas- This Love
Infusion- Natural
Presets- all of Apocalypso (esp. A New Sky; My People)
Motley Crue! (Kickstart My Heart is great when you're struggling)
Metallica- Black Album and Master of Puppets are also good when you're feeling really pissed off and feel like punching stupid people in the head (like your husband who's being a dickhead and acting like a selfish moron).
For weights I like things with lots of swearing and aggro: anything by Tupac, 5o Cent, Eminem, Ja Rule. Kind of fun to lift my pathetic little dumbells and pretend I'm a big muscly black man with an entourage and trillions of dollars.
