Sir Ian McKellen will not be joining Taylor Swift’s #squad.
Sir Ian McKellen was evicted by the world’s friendliest pop-star, and he’s definitely not shaken it off yet.
McKellen was staying in his friend director Peter Jackson’s New York apartment, minding his own business, probably reading scripts and sipping tea, when Taylor Swift entered, stage left.
She snapped up the property and decided that she wanted to move right in — but Sir Ian wasn’t ready to leave.
“When I was living in Peter Jackson’s apartment in New York, Taylor Swift bought it while I was there and I was thrown out before I wanted to leave!” he told GayStarNews.
“That hardly puts me in Taylor Swift’s team, does it?”
In fact, the young singer was so confident in her friend-pulling power that she actually invited the man she heartlessly evicted to join her on-stage in Los Angeles.
Both McKellen and his best mate Patrick Stewart have proven themselves worthy of squad status.
In July, McKellen reeled off the lyrics to Bad Blood during an interview with Yahoo, while Stewart recited lyrics from
Blank Space on NPR.
“So @IanMcKellen recited Bad Blood and I did Blank Space on @NPRAskMeAnother. May we join the squad, @taylorswift13?” Stewart tweeted at Swift.
And swiftly came the summons.
“She did ask me to appear with Patrick Stewart at her show in LA, but I had something else to do that night,”
McKellen told GayStarNews.
But there’s no bad blood between the two.
“She bought [the apartment], she had every right to –- I was just lodging there for free!”
These two are our ultimate #squadgoals: Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
