A "plus-size" model is making history on the pages of an unexpected magazine.

Our favourite supermodel just made history.

Robyn Lawley is a world-famous Australian model who’s appearing in a highly-anticipated edition of Sports Illustrated.

The 25-year-old model is also a size 12, which makes her “plus-size” by the industry’s unrealistic standards.

And the simple fact that she’s not completely teeny-tiny means she’s making history by appearing in magazine’s highly anticipated swimsuit edition.

Lawley, who will appear in the edition wearing a bikini from her own line, told TIME magazine she doesn’t necessarily identify as “plus size” (After all, she’s smaller than the average Australian woman…)

“I don’t know if I consider myself as a plus-size model or not,” she told TIME. “I just consider myself a model because I’m trying to help women in general accept their bodies.”

Nevertheless, she really didn’t think she’d make it as a bikini model, given that she deviates slightly from the ever-so-skinny “norm” within the industry.

“I never thought that this would happen to me, so this is a milestone,” says Lawley. “When I started my career 10 years ago, I had to painfully go to castings and people would look at you and say, ‘What the hell are you doing here?’… I want to be there for the regular girls who are my size.”

While it’s sad that Lawley‘s inclusion in this edition is even a big deal — a woman being a size 12 should hardly be controversial — we welcome any magazines embracing more diverse body types.
