Australian singer Ricki-Lee Coulter has been accused by her social media followers of posting ‘pro-ana’ shots.
The backlash came after the 28-year-old posted this picture to the Instagram:
The image was captioned: “Love getting home & wiping off my make up!!! Ready for some serious couch time! #HappyFriday :P xxx”
‘Pro-ana’ photos are photos that are designed to – or deemed to inadvertently – ‘promote anorexia’. They are often found on specific ‘pro-ana’ blogs, and exist within a similar realm to ‘Thinsperation’.
Coulter has lost a significant amount of weight since she first achieved stardom as an Australian Idol contestant back in 2004. She credits the weight loss to her partner, personal trainer Richard Harrison.
She hasn’t shied away from talking about the process, telling Body + Soul:
“So many people go on a diet – but for me it’s a complete lifestyle change and it’s forever.
“When I wasn’t looking after myself a few years ago I was stressed and unmotivated. I had no get-up-and-go. I was lazy. You have to flick a switch and make a positive change in your life.”
Coulter has come out in defence of the photo, saying that cyberbullying on Instagram has to stop. She wrote:

Despite what you might be able to conclude from one photo taken in a particular lighting using you non-existent medical degree, if you look though her other recent photos you can clearly see she is not "too skinny" (whatever that even is).
She looks healthy and trim and she has quite obviously gained a lot of muscle. She has always had a high bone structure.
Loathed as I am to feel sorry for celebrities, people are so cruel.
This girl IS too thin. She's gone from curvy to I'm not sure what...a waif? Reminds me of starving children in Africa. I'm sorry. Don't hate me for my opinion. I'm actually worried for her.
