Liam Neeson’s been busy making a few enemies of late.
Liam Neeson has become the enemy of pro-gun activists (and our new favourite famous human) after expressing his opinion on how utterly terrible guns can be.
The 62-year-old star of movies that show him wielding lots of guns – more commonly known as the Taken franchise – told a Dubai news outlet that he thinks firearms are a “fucking disgrace”.
“There’s too many fucking guns out there. Especially in America. I think the population is, like, 320 million? There’s over 300 million guns. Privately owned, in America. I think it’s a fucking disgrace. Every week now we’re picking up a newspaper and seeing, ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.’”
He speaks the truth and, on a day where we have learned of the tragic death of another child due to gun violence, his statement cannot be denied.
Except that gun supporters think it can.
A company that has previously supplied the guns that Liam Neeson wields in his movies has withdrawn their guns for any future Taken movies. Harsh.
Liam Neeson opens up about Natasha Richardson’s death for the first time
“PARA USA regrets its decision to provide firearms for use in the film Taken 3,” the company said.
“While the film itself is entertaining, comments made by its Irish-born star during press junkets reflect a cultural and factual ignorance that undermines support of the Second Amendment and American liberties. We will no longer provide firearms for use in films starring Liam Neeson and ask that our friends and partners in Hollywood refrain from associating our brand and products with his projects. Further, we encourage our partners and friends in the firearms industry to do the same.”

So... no more movies where Liam shoots the shit out of anything that moves to save the day? Yeah, nah, doubt it...
Well said about the guns Liam, I agree & I also think the Mayor of NY should back off and leave the horses alone. They ARE an iconic part of the city and contrary to all the hype, further investigation showed they are very well cared for.
