Kylie Jenner wants us to stop talking about her lips, you guys.

The youngest member of the Kardashian Klan, whose significantly plumper-than-usual lips have sparked ‘has she had work or hasn’t she?’ speculation over the past year, thinks we should all find something more profound to discuss.

“How long are we gonna talk about this lip thing lmao,” the 17-year-old wrote on Twitter (lmao being ‘laughing my ass off’, in case you’re not down with text speak). “Let’s get our lives together guys and talk about some important s***. Just talk about something new at least. I’m bored.”

It seems the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star’s tweets were prompted by critical comments posted on her latest kissy-faced selfies. In case you’re not aware, a lot of Kylie’s Instagram photos of late tend to draw focus to her pout.

Now, when you compare Kylie’s latest photos to those taken even 12 months ago, it’s obvious that her lips are different. Anyone can see that. If nothing else, her top lip looks fuller and wider:

Many of Kylie’s fans and followers – and, well, members of the general public – suspect this is the result of injections. Like her sisters before her, who have also been plagued by surgery speculation, Kylie was eventually compelled to address the issue.

“These plastic surgery rumors hurt my feelings to be honest and are kinda insulting. Just in case anyone forgot… I’m 16,” she tweeted in April.

Although it’s entirely possible Kylie has had her lips injected – after all, cosmetic surgery isn’t uncommon among celebrities, even some young ones – there’s a good chance this teenager has been creating the plumped-up effect simply by overdrawing her lips.

This is a makeup trick that’s gone in and out of popularity over the years, and creates surprisingly realistic results – as our editor Alyx explains in this post. Youtube tutorials are popping up all over the place claiming to recreate the Kylie Jenner look.

Remember, Kylie’s most famous sister Kim Kardashian is known for using makeup – contouring, to be more precise – to change the look of her nose.

Regardless of what Kylie’s trick actually is, her response suggests there’s one thing that’s certain in this story: she’s going to stay tight-lipped about her lips. And maybe we should follow suit. After all, a selfie is worth a thousand words, right?
