Australian Idol winner loses 60 kilos.

Former Australian Idol winner Kate DeAraugo (whom you may remember from the band Young Divas with Ricki Lee and Jess Mauboy) has lost half her body weight. She lost the weight with gastric surgery, after struggling with drugs and alcohol since her reality TV win in 2005.

Most importantly, after this drastic change, Kate says she’s never been happier, never been healthier, and never been more confident in herself.

“I’m happy for the first time in a long, long time,” DeAraugo told Woman’s Day.

“I pick up the phone when it rings when before there were days when I wouldn’t answer it at all…. I’ve realised being thin doesn’t make you happy, but losing the weight has given me my confidence back.”
