Jillian “Tough Love, Tough Abs” Michaels has quit the American version of The Biggest Loser. Again.
By our count, this is the third time Michaels has quit the show – citing “creative differences” with the show’s producers.
This time, she’s complained about the way she’s edited to appear mean.
“Millions of people have this warped negative perception of me,” she told People magazine.
“For ‘Loser’ in the States, they just made me look like a crazy person in the gym and it’s not who I am. Yes I am, but there’s a good reason and there’s a method behind my madness. I just started to feel limited by the portrayal.”
Michaels has chosen not to elaborate on what she says are “fundamental differences that have existed for a while,” but there’s speculation that she was upset by what happened with drastically underweight contestant Rachel Frederickson.
If you remember, Frederickson appeared on the show last year. When ‘Loser’ has finished filming, she continued to diet and got down to a skeletal 47kg. Jillian Michaels appeared genuinely floored when she saw the transformation, later commenting that she was distressed by it.
Here’s Rachel, standing next to an image of her before she started on the show.
And here’s what Jillian Michaels looked like when she saw how skinny Rachel had become:
Could that be why Jillian Michaels has quit The Biggest Loser? Because it pushes its formerly overweight contestants too far the other way?
Or could it Contract Negotiation O’Clock for Jillian right now?

What's wrong with being thin? Losing weight is good and being thin is the only way you can ever be beautiful
"being thin is the only way you can ever be beautiful"?
I don't even have a response to this that _isn't_ expletive filled.
Haha good one, troll.
Ahh, I think (think) I understand where you're coming from, but you're slightly mistaken. There's nothing wrong with being a healthy weight. That should be the goal for everybody. A healthy weight is also different for everybody, and isn't just one number. It's a range.
Losing weight to get to a healthy weight is good. Gaining weight to get to a healthy weight is good.
Many people think thin is beautiful. Many people think overweight is beautiful. Many people think healthy is beautiful. Many people think their partner is beautiful regardless of body shape or size. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Health is in the eye of a trained physician.
This comment does appear to be trolling, however I chose to answer seriously, because there are people out there who really do agree with this sentiment. As a person with healthcare experience, I strongly advise anyone who thinks the only way to be beautiful is to be thin to speak to a counsellor and a nutritionist. In that order. A person who thinks this way and is acting in line with it is damaging their body and their mind, but you can't successfully treat the symptom without treating the cause.
My thoughts are with everyone struggling with eating disorders, especially those who haven't yet realised they are.
Yes! That's exactly right!
