Delta Lea Goodrem is an Aussie singer-songwriter and musician.
She was born on November 9, 1984 and was born and raised in Australia.
After spending her childhood singing, dancing, acting and playing piano, she began her career as a child actress, before becoming part of the Ramsay St crew as Nina Tucker on Neighbours.
After the nation fell in love with her, Delta broke into the music industry. She recorded the album Delta through an independent label, however the album never got released due to legal reasons.
She then signed with Sony when she was only fifteen(!) and released her first album, Innocent Eyes. The world went bezerk for Delta. Her album went multi-platinum, topping the charts in Australia and the UK and making Australian music history by selling 4.5 million copies worldwide and having all 5 of her singles (“Born to Try”, “Lost Without You”, “Innocent Eyes”, “Not Me, Not I” and “Predictable”) reaching Numero Uno.
In 2003, when Delta was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at only 18, the world was so shocked and devastated. It seemed incredibly unfair that such an awfully young, gifted woman just beginning her journey to success now had to face a life-threatening illness.
She underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment and was forced to put work on hold. She received an over-whelming amount of support by fans and the general public.
Shortly after her diagnosis, she received several ARIA nominations.
At the end of December 2003, Delta announced that she was in remission. Fans and the public breathed a sigh of relief.
Wasting no time, she began working on her second album, Mistaken Identity, which was inspired by her battle and released in 2004. It too became a number 1 album.
She also launched her own lingerie line called “Delta by Annabella”.
Delta has continued to produce hit singles and can now add being a coach on popular TV show The Voice Australia to her repertoire.
