Wonderful news for Australia’s best loved actress.
In the celebrity world where a celebrity’s every move is watched by paparazzi and skilled go-pro users, a baby is rarely a genuine surprise. But that’s exactly what’s happened.
One of Australia’s most celebrated actresses Cate Blanchett, 45, has welcomed a new addition to her family.
This morning, Cate’s publicist confirmed the new arrival and the baby’s name: “The Upton family have adopted a baby girl. Her name is Edith Vivian Patricia Upton.”
According to exclusive reports in the Australian Women’s Weekly, Blanchett has been arriving to collect her sons from primary school in Sydney this week cuddling a newborn baby girl.
The Cinderella star has also been spotted at Sydney airport with her new daughter.

"In the celebrity world where a celebrity’s every move is watched by paparazzi and skilled go-pro users" - exactly why celeb adoptions are unsuitable for adoptees.
Unlike poor North West, Cate's children seem to have a pretty normal life and enjoy their childhood away from paparazzi. So sure people will say the super rich have different rules to the rest of us regarding adoption, but they are one family who should have as many kids as they can manage as they are doing a pretty good job of it and they have a lot to offer in more ways than just wealth.
