Carrie Bickmore's replacement on The Project has just been revealed.

It’s takes an impressive host to sit between Waleed Aly and Steve Price, that’s for sure.

With Carrie Bickmore‘s due date just around the corner, the race was on to find someone to fill her seat at The Project desk.

And with a wealth of experience and training up her sleeve, former school teacher Gorgi Coghlan will be bringing her skills to the table.

The 39-year-old, who will fill in for Carrie while she is on maternity leave, plans to use her inner school teacher to keep the often tumultuous panel in-line.

“I am the person that can balance them out,” she told Sydney Confidential.

“Being a former teacher, I find that really comes out in me … and it does help sometimes when you have two people arguing about something that needs to be let go.

“But it’s good, it makes the show fun and gives the show a dynamic.”

Gorgi, who previously hosted The Circle, has had plenty of practice filling in for Carrie at the desk. And she’s been so outstanding in the role that she beat out a list of contenders that included Natarsha Belling, Chrissie Swan and Fifi Box.

The former teacher will leave her husband and four-year-old daughter Molly-Rose on their farm near Ballarat during the week as she covers for Carrie five nights a week starting from Monday.

“I’m super excited to be extending my co-hosting role from Friday nights to five nights a week,” she said.

“I’ve never worked with such a talented team, where every single producer, contributor and panel member is an absolute joy to work with. We’ll be aiming to make Bickmore laugh when she’s at home on the couch enjoying this precious chapter in her life.”

Gorgi will remain with the program as a permanent Friday night co-host after Carrie resumes hosting four nights a week after her maternity leave.
