So. Many. Tears.

So much mascara ran on About Bruce, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians special about Bruce Jenner‘s gender transition, it was like an inky black river of tears.

It’s strange to think that the most over-exposed family on earth existed before their eponymous reality TV series first went to air 10 seasons ago.

But they did, and one of the most genuinely moving moments in the special was all the amateur footage of the Jenner/Kardashian family before the females of the family became tabloid fodder and evidence of an impending apocalypse.

There’s footage of the wedding of Kris and Bruce with mini Kim, Khloe and Kourtney in little white dresses.

Family pool days. Trips to the seaside. The births of two new little reality starlets, Kendall and Kylie.

By all appearances, theirs was a happy family life and Bruce Jenner was a doting dad to both his step-children and his natural kids. No-one disputes what a great father Bruce has been.

Here are our five most touching moments from About Bruce.

1. Kendall & Kylie admit they thought Bruce was hiding an affair. 

Bruce Jenner’s two youngest kids, Kylie and Kendall, thought their father was having an affair when they were younger, but were too afraid to say anything.

“I remember being a kid and not knowing what was going on. We’d find things like make-up or lipstick and we thought he was having an affair at one point, and we didn’t know what to do. We didn’t want our family to break up so we didn’t tell anybody,” said Kendall.

2. Khloe ends up on Team Bruce.

Khloe Kardashian confronted her stepdad, asking him, “Is Bruce going to be gone within the next four to five months?” to which he replied in the affirmative. This was news to all the family and the pair had an argument that was eventually resolved.

“Sometimes because of my love for you and my feelings for you, I don’t want to hurt you and so I apologize for not being as honest as I should be,” Jenner told her.

“You’ve been a fucking incredible father to all of us. I’ve always been Team Bruce,” she replied.

3. Bruce’s excitement for the future.

“They’re all kind of nervous to meet her. She’s always more fun, more at ease and feeling good about herself. It’s all part of me. It’s like having Bruce with a little icing on the cake. It only gets better,” he said.

“I’m very optimistic about the future. And I haven’t felt that way in a long, long time.”

4. Kris admitting she is not okay with it.

“I wake up in the morning and then I realise, oh my God this is really happening? I have to mourn this person I was married to for all these years. That you think you’re going to grow old with somebody and they drastically change over the course of a few years,” she told Kim.

“I’m confused what happens to Bruce, because I miss Bruce.”

She told her ex-husband, “I’ll never be able to have Bruce and all I have really is my memories. I look at pictures of you and the kids and I get really sad because I feel like … you died.

“Bruce died.”

5. The tears among the ‘likes’.

“Like Mom, this is really hard for her and like it’s so sad, and she like cries all the time and it like makes me really sad,” Kim said, doing her infamous crying face.

OK – that wasn’t one of her finer moments. Try this one:

“He promised my dad he would be there for us unconditionally and he really has held up his end of the bargain.”
