Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek have quit as hosts of Melbourne Nova 100’s breakfast show.
The pair were the first voices to launch the station in December 2001, and 12 years later Hughesy & Kate today announced this will be their final year of breakfast radio together.
“Hughesy and I have decided that this will be our last year on the show,” Langbroek said this morning, “and we have loved it and still love it … but let’s face it, we’ve had big lives, we’re tired – not of each other actually.”
“We love our show,” said Hughes. “It’s been an amazing place to work. Since day one, when me, Katie and Dave O’Neil started … we’ve had so much fun. It’s been a joy to come to work. I have not had one boring day in 12 years coming to work with Kate Langbroek.”
“We’ve been talking about it for a long time … we have decided everything together,” said Langbroek.
The public caught a glimpse of their close relationship last month when Langbroek opened up about her 10-year-old son’s three-year battle with leukemia.
She thanked Hughes for his support during the time, to which he replied: “Your strength through this radio show and just through life has been remarkable and how you’ve kept soldiering on and never lost your sense of humour is incredible, absolutely incredible.

Hey everyone, Miley is almost an adult under US law (November she turns 21) and I think it's time for everyone to realise that she is no longer Hannah Montana, nor claims to be.
Yes, she was a Disney star and had/has a large fan-base of young girls, but that's what comes along when she signed up for the job.
Now that she has moved on from Hannah Montana and into her singing career, she has signed up for a new job that is all about personal expression- music.
Music, in comparison to acting, in most cases is all about the star's expression and freedom to do so. Along with music and songs, comes music videos. Much to many people's dismay, it's been this way since forever! (or since MTV).
With such a focus on the internet and digital media in this day and age, music videos are arguably almost as important as the song itself. It's all about the likes on Facebook, the views on Youtube, the list goes on.
The exotic, individual and even controversial music videos put her songs on the map. The more interesting, or even crazier music video, the more people are going to be exposed to her music, and from there people are either going to like it and buy it, or dislike it and yet still share the link with their friends to talk about how 'trashy' she is. Either way, she wins. This is the way the music career is headed, publicity is obviously key.
On the content of her vidoes, yes some things are confronting such as her nudity and making out with a hammer. Yes, it's quite strange, and yes, maybe can even be considered unnecessary since her song is not titled nor sings about making out with hammers.
But why should we call her insane, crazy, crying for attention, needing help or slutty and stupid?
If anything, she (or her agents/producers/managers) have become very successful business peoples, who know what gets attention and know what is going to sell.
I feel her music videos are an awesome selling point for her, whether people agree or not with what they entail, and that these music videos are her own ideas of art from.
Nudity or barely-there clothing is not new in art, and definitely not new in music videos.
She is breaking the mould, and we as a society should be all for and accepting of individuals with all different styles.
On top of that, I think her new song is actually great, I loved we Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball so much! They're fun, catchy and her passion can be felt.
Stop with the hate, why can't we accept her individuality, regardless if we like her music or not?
Yes Miley we get it. Hannah Montana is dead. You've told us already. Now please get over yourself and give us all a break. Enough already.
