When Kyle and Jackie O left 2DayFM, the radio station pulled out the big guns – employing not one, not two, but four breakfast presenters to replace the golden duo. Enter Jules Lund, Merrick, Sophie Monk and Mel B.
It was a huge gamble trying out that combo of talent – and it hasn’t worked.
Turns out not even a Spice Girl can save 2DayFM’s ratings. The four-way breakfast radio team just got slammed by their competitors, and ended up at the very bottom of the radio ratings that just came out this morning. Their audience has actually halved since Kyle & Jackie left.
So who’s on top of the list?
You guessed it – Kyle and Jackie O on a newly revamped Kiis FM. They actually share the top spot with Jonesy and Amanda on WSFM.
Here’s the moment Kyle and Jackie O found out they’re still king and queen of brekky radio:
Kyle and Jackie O boosted their new home station’s audience share by 3.3 per cent to 9.3 per cent, tying with ARN’s other station, WSFM, with Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones and Amanda Keller, which also had a 9.3 per cent audience share, up 3.1 per cent.
2DayFM’s owner Austereo has hit rock-bottom overall, with a teeny-tiny 4 per cent audience share from Monday to Sunday.
The top rating commercial station is talkback station 2GB with 13.6 per cent audience share. Their breakfast host, Alan Jones, dropped 2 percentage points but is staying strong with a 15.2 per cent share.
Meanwhile in Melbourne…
Fox FM held onto its first place spot with an 8 per cent audience share. The new breakfast show hosted by Fifi Box and (our buddy) Dave Thornton is more popular than Nova 100’s Meshel Laurie and Tommy Little. Fifi & Dave won 7.9 per cent of Melbourne’s breakfast listeners.
In their first survery since taking over from Hughesy & Kate, the new duo Meshel & Tommy sit in third place with 7.4 per cent.
The Hot Breakfast show with Eddie McGuire is the leading show in Melbs with a smooth 8 per cent.

jules and sophie are pretty good, but merrick is belittling and just not funny. he needs to go. mel b... shes barely there, not even worth mentioning!
How surprising (not really). 4 presenters is too many, and none of them really have much to say. I like Merrick, but Sophie's weird voice is not something I want to hear in the morning, and tit just seems like a random bunch of people to put together. If they are going to keep anyone, I think Merrick and Jules should stay. But this was always going to happen. Today FM thinks breakfast ratings are all about star power and they're forgetting it's about chemistry.
