No matter how bubbly you appear on the tv: being unexpected fired is always going to hurt.
Former Today presenter Emma Freedman had been expecting a promotion when she received a surprising phone call from her agent: she was being axed from the job she had given her heart and soul to.
Now with a new radio gig, she has spoken frankly about how she feels about being let go from Channel 9.
And this time there was #nofilter.
“I just cried all day. I didn’t get out of bed for a few days. It’s pretty gut wrenching … I put a lot of myself into that job and maybe that’s a lesson learned to not be so personally invested in something,” Emma told news.com.au.
“People say it’s just a contract not being renewed but I put everything into that (job),” the 26-year-old revealed. “I gave up my weekends for five years, I worked early hours, up at 4am. I loved it, I put a lot of myself into it.”

But the disappointment hasn’t held her back for long. Emma recently began co-hosting 2dayFM’s The Scoopla Show alongside Jules Lund- and by all accounts she’s kicking ass, with Southern Cross Austereo boss Dave Cameron calling her a “knockout new radio talent”.
“It’s so true everything happens for a reason. I look back and think maybe I did need to leave for new opportunities and was getting a bit bored.”
