Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas have filed for divorce.
After 18 years of marriage, one of Hollywood’s longest lasting couples has amicably decided to split.
In a statement, the couple said:
“We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together. – Melanie & Antonio”
The pair have cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation.
TMZ reports that Griffith is seeking full custody of their 17-year-old daughter, Stella.
Griffith and Banderas met in 1995 on the set of Two Much, and were married the next year. Since then, they have primarily worked together in philanthropy, resulting in the couple receiving the Stella Adler Angel Award in 2002.

I dunno, if someone is going for sole custody of their children, I question how amicable that break up can be. But then again, we don't know the full circumstances, so I'll stop judging people I don't know now.
I'm surprised it's lasted this long, always seemed like a strange match to me...
