Kylie Minogue says she still loves Michael Hutchence.
“A guy with that much charisma, it doesn’t just switch off, you know. You don’t just forget about that person,” she said yesterday, adding that she welcomed the hit telemovie INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.
“I don’t know what it was like with other women in his life, but my love for him remains and it’s good that everyone else’s love has been reinvigorated with this show,” she said.
Minogue dated the INXS frontman for two years in the 1990s, remaining friends with him after he started dating supermodel Helena Christensen.
She also confirmed in the interview that the pick-up line Hutchence used on her character in the telemovie was “almost exactly correct.”
And here it is: “I didn’t know whether to ask you to lunch or to have sex.”
In other Kylie news, the starlet, 45, surprised fans with a last-minute, one-song performance at the Beresford Hotel in Sydney last night after announcing the show on twitter.
She performed her hit “Into the Blue” to a 300-strong crowd at around 10:30pm, wishing the crowd a “happy Mardi Gras” at the end of the gig.
