FLUFF: Kim Kardashian has solved racism.

Stand down, everyone.

Kim Kardashian’s got this whole racial discrimination thing covered. She’s on the case. She’s… actually saying coherent things about an important political topic and frankly we’re not sure how to deal with it. Is this… What is this? What’s happening?

Kardashian-level fame may not have prompted Kimmy K to think about racism, but motherhood seems to have inspired a little somethin-somethin in the ‘thinking about the world around me’ category. And good on her. We’re really proud.

Far be it from us to discourage sentient thought from a woman who usually deals in butt selfies and words beginning exclusively with the letter K.

Here’s what Kimmy K – the woman who started a line of clothing called the Kardashian Kids Kollection without thinking about the implications of three K’s in a row – had to say about racism:

To be honest, before I had North, I never really gave racism or discrimination a lot of thought. It is obviously a topic that Kanye is passionate about, but I guess it was easier for me to believe that it was someone else’s battle. But recently, I’ve read and personally experienced some incidents that have sickened me and made me take notice. I realize that racism and discrimination are still alive, and just as hateful and deadly as they ever have been.

One of those incidents may have been when Kim was verbally assaulted by a photographer months ago, who called her a ‘n—-r lover’. She called her husband-to-be Kanye West to the scene, and he retaliated with a punch to the face.

Kim continues, making some rather lovely statements about her social responsibility as a celebrity:

I feel a responsibility as a mother, a public figure, a human being, to do what I can to make sure that not only my child, but all children, don’t have to grow up in a world where they are judged by the color of their skin, or their gender, or their sexual orientation. I want my daughter growing up in a world where love for one another is the most important thing. So the first step I’m taking is to stop pretending like this isn’t my issue or my problem, because it is, it’s everyone’s.

It’s even a little Martin Luther King-esque, don’t you think?

So. Kimmy Kardashian‘s a social activist now. She might have taken a while to realise that racism is a very real issue is our society, but she got there and bloody good on her for doing that. All power to you, mama Kim.

Here’s to our noble warrior against social problems, Kim Kardashian:
