George Clooney‘s fiancee is a human rights barrister. She’s also a stone cold fox, but that’s beside the point.
For George, it’s a spectacular change from dating professional lingerie jelly wrestlers.
(Though, we should probably point out that pro-wrestler Stacey is happily married and pregnant now, so that’s nice).
36-year-old Amal Alamuddin just casually turned down an invitation from the United Nations to investigate one of the more complex wars of our time. The UN wanted Amal to be on a team of three experts sent in to investigate war crimes and human rights violations in Gaza.
But Amal’s lawyering skills are in demand, so she simply couldn’t spare the time to look into alleged crimes against humanity by both sides.
She said in a statement:
“I am honored to have received the offer, but given existing commitments – including eight ongoing cases – unfortunately could not accept this role. I wish my colleagues who will serve on the commission courage and strength in their endeavours.”
Oh, Amal Alamuddin. STOP BEING SO INCREDIBLE.
(Don’t stop, never stop, never ever stop).

It will never last
So if George is marrying up does that suggest Amal is marrying down?
I think it just suggests that some working women are better than other working women. It's a class thing. We should all date and marry within our own class and not go dating jelly wrestlers if we don't, ourselves, wrestle in jelly.
But maybe I'm misreading it because, as I've said here repeatedly, this feminism thing confuses me. The rules change by the hour, but at least I know now that I can refer to a woman as a "stone cold fox", so that's one item ticked off the list - assuming that rule doesn't change.
