Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore are best friends.

And you know what they say about famous women who are best friends. They’re sleeping together, of course. It’s virtually impossible for a female celebrity to hang out publicly with another female celebrity without someone yelling “Hot lesbians!” in their general direction.

And so, tabloids like to say that Cameron D and Drew are more than friends.

Cameron Diaz just responded to those rumours in a typically sassy, excellent manner. It’s also, incidentally, how we’d feel if someone suggested we were sleeping with our best friend. All the respect in the world to genuine lesbians in relationships, obviously. But when the gossip media forces you into a completely fictional sexual relationship with your main homie? That’s not on.

Here’s Cameron D. Preach, girlfriend:

“That’s like saying I’m having sex with my sister. Are you crazy? I wouldn’t even ménage with her!

“Everybody tries things and sees things and checks them out, and either walks away or walks further in. It’s life — it’s what people do. I’m not going to tell people what I’ve done, but I’m also not going to say, ‘No! I would never!’ If I said that, I’d be shaming myself and shaming other people’s choices. I don’t want to add any stigma to someone’s choice.”
