Cate Blanchett answers some of the world's many questions about baby Edith.

She’s talking about her baby.

Cate Blanchett and her husband, playwriter, Andrew Upton, have welcomed a new addition to their brood.

Last night, at the Sydney premiere of the highly-anticipated live-action version of the Disney classic, Cinderella, the star spoke for the first time about their adopted daughter, Edith.

“Fourth time round, it’s extraordinary!” the 45-year-old told Sky News.

“There’s a lot of children out there who don’t have the good fortune that our biological children do so it’s wonderful to welcome a little girl into our fold.”

The star, who plays the evil step-mother in the film, was accompanied by Upton and their three biological sons, Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10, and Ignatius, 6.

“It’s very exciting,” Upton told the Daily Mail.

While walking the blue carpet, Blanchett confirmed that baby Edith was adopted from the United States after being asked what she thought about Australia’s adoption laws.

“I think it is… well I haven’t been through it here. It was in the United States,” the Academy Award winner said.

The Blanchett-Upton family plan to relocate permanently to the U.S. once Upton’s term as the Sydney Theatre Company’s artistic director finishes at the end of this year.

“We’re all looking forward to spending more time together in one place,” Upton told the Sydney Morning Herald. 

“We spent nine years living in England and we loved it. But now we’d like to try America. They have terrific opportunities in television there and Cate has a very strong film career there, too, obviously.”
