It has been nearly 20 years since the body of JonBenet Ramsey was found inside her Colorado home the day after Christmas.
But it hasn’t stopped detectives and conspiracy theorists alike speculating about what happened to the little girl all those years ago.
A private investigator who was once hired by the parents of JonBenet Ramsey has told the Today Show in the US that he believes he knows who murdered the six-year-old.
Ollie Gray has continued to work on the case today without being paid due to a dogged belief that an electrician named Michael Helgoth was involved in the beauty queens murder.
“You have to look for something in order to find something, and unfortunately for this particular case, you had a totally inexperienced police agency,” he told TODAY.
“There are probably three or four people that should have been investigated earlier and still need to be investigated.”
Gray went on to tell the program that Helgoth is an important person of interest and that he believes a tape-recorded a confession of the murder is in the care of Helgoth's close friends and family. Gray says Helgoth was never properly investigated in the murder due to the fact he committed suicide just months after JonBenet's body was found.
“The latest development in this particular case as far as I’m concerned is Michael Helgoth. He was basically a hell raiser.
