The best dress at the Golden Globes wasn't the most expensive.

So there’s us, and then there’s celebrities.

The fantasy world of the Hollywood Hills never feels further away than on days like today, as we shovel down last night’s chicken stirfry at our work desk whilst scrolling the impossibly glam photos from the Golden Globes Red Carpet. Oh, the hair. Oh, the make-up. Oh, those GOWNS.

But with every year that passes, a growing tribe of Hollywood leading ladies are working to break down that barrier of celebrity culture, and remind us to look beyond the hype.

Enter to the stage Bryce Dallas Howard.

Her Serene Highness Bryce Dallas Howard.

We all had a silent cheer this afternoon as the impossibly beautiful Bryce Dallas-Howard proved she is not so ‘impossibly’ beautiful after all, as she revealed that her bejewelled Jenny Packham dress is not only OFF THE RACK, but it is of a size that women wear. An Australia size 10, in fact.

Quelle Horreur!

Look, we’re not sure WHICH department store sells frocks like this, but we’re loving the vibe.

Yep, Bryce – daughter of Happy Days legend Ron Howard – won all of our hearts today as she made E! News host Guiliana Rancic panic with her frock shock announcement.

“You picked it up yourself? You went and bought it yourself?” a shocked Rancic questioned Her Serene Highness Bryce.

Uh, yeah Guiliana. She’s got legs.

“I like having lots of options for a size six, as opposed to maybe one option,” said Bryce. “I always go to department stores for this kind of stuff.”

So…does this mean we could all *hypothetically* walk the red carpet too?

So here’s the thing. Most Hollywood gals get by on awards nights by skimming a sample-size frock from an A-list designer.

And sample size in Hollywood is usually a size two – that is, an Australian size four to six. Pretty darn small. So what did Her Serene Highness Bryce Dallas Howard do? She took herself off to luxury department store Neiman Marcus and chose whatever dress made her feel good – NOT what was on offer for free.

Anyway, this moment made every woman reading shout an involuntary ‘PRAISE THE LORD AMEN SISTER MMMM HMMMM!’ as we realised that a) celebrities shop at department stores, b) Bryce is a strong independent woman who don’t need no free frock, and c) celebrities come in human sizes, too!

WERQ, BRYCE.

Without digging deep into the size debate (yes, we know that many women are naturally size four to six) it is just SO DAMN REFRESHING to hear a glammed-up celeb bring a dose of real, to the notoriously unreal red carpet.
