8. Baby born in Nauru detention centre to be stateless.

A baby girl born to a Rohingya refugee at the Nauru detention centre will be stateless reports Fairfax Media.

“She is not Nauruan by birth [as she] has to have Nauruan parents,” Refugee Action Coalition spokesman Ian Rintoul said

Under the Nauru constitution those who were born in the country but “had no possibility of obtaining citizenship of any other country” were allowed to apply for Nauruan citizenship but had no guarantee.

The Rohingyan people have been rendered stateless in their homeland.

The baby girl, the first child born to a refugee at the centre, was born to a Rohingyan family who had been there for two years.

Mr Rintoul said that it was a risky precedent.

“Nauru hospital has limited staff, limited resources and no specialists. Any complication would risk the wellbeing of mother and baby.

“The fact that refugees are sent to PNG and asylum seeker mothers are sent to Australia to have their babies says that Australian authorities do not believe that Nauru is safe.”

He said the Australian government had a responsibility to bring all babies born to asylum seekers and refugee families to Australia.

“There needs to be consistent policy from the government. All mothers-to-be should be brought, with their families, to Australia to give birth, where there is proper medical facilities to ensure the health of mother and baby,” he said.

“We wish the family well, but we know the conditions on Nauru – no education and no resettlement – put a dark cloud over their future.”

9. #Piggate: Did the UK PM really put his private parts into a pig?

And you thought Tony Abbott topless dancing after he was ousted was a scandal…. well spare a thought for the political junkies in the UK who have a Prime Minister who apparently stuck his old fella in the mouth of a dead pig.

In a book, due to be published next month it is alleged that during his wild youth David Cameron “inserted a private part of his anatomy into the animal’s mouth”- and claims there are photographs to prove it.

The unauthorised biography, Call Me Dave also contains allegations Mr Cameron took drugs and was a member of the Piers Gaveston Society – an exclusive Oxford drinking club renowned for debauched parties with free sex, music, drink and drugs.

Mr Cameron has alluded to smoking marijuana when he was at university saying he had a “normal university experience”. He has also never not denied taking cocaine, although has said he has not done so since becoming an MP.

Twitter, naturally has gone Pig Crazy with #Piggate trending as the media explodes with the allegations. Interestingly the conservative BBC has decided to avoid all mention of the allegations and the only story about pigs they have about a series of miniature pigs with silly names from back in August.

The Malala Fund has set up the petition saying “in September, world leaders will commit to 12 years of free, safe, quality primary and secondary education for every girl and every boy in the new United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This commitment holds tremendous promise for my sisters demanding more for their lives. But a commitment only counts if a commitment is kept. The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) must lead the way in upholding this commitment, just as it has led way in supporting 9 years of education for millions of children to date.”

12. We’ve been saying it wrong.

It’s not NUT-ellla you fools. ( Whoops!)

In a revelation sure to spin your world on its axis Nutella have told us that we have been pronouncing the name of the chocolate spread incorrectly our entire lives.

On their website Italian manufacturer Ferrero say the official way to say it is “new-tell-uh”.

Not actually “nuh-tell-uh” as most of us do.

On the website they write “Nutella (pronounced “new-tell-uh”) is a tasty, unique spread made from the combination of roasted hazelnuts, skim milk and a hint of cocoa. Nutella has no artificial colors or preservatives.”

Social media users have, understandable, been sent into a panic.
